Hello to you, budding artists who are reading us!
Today we offer you a little ceramic tutorial to make the famous Japanese cherry blossom tree yourself, but this time in a homemade version!
As a gift or for your home, this little touch of Feng-Shui will go with any interior. You will even have the opportunity to say "I made it!" in front of the astonished eyes of your loved ones, wanting to know where you bought it.
At the Workshop, or at home, we explain all the steps to reproduce this essential ceramic using our painting kit available on our e-shop here or directly to the ceramic cafe.
Let's go?
Materials provided in the box: 4 colors (n°1-Shell pink, 15-Black, 45-Sky blue and 89-Coral pink), 2 brushes, and a sponge.
Information: The paint is non-toxic (lead-free) and cleans up with water. So you can make this piece anywhere! If necessary, bring a tea towel and a pencil. Let's go!
1-The background: Paint your ceramic completely in three layers with color n°45 using the large brush, letting it dry for about 4 minutes between each layer. Then paint the outline of the ceramic in black (n°15) with a brush or by dabbing delicately with the sponge. Remember to always paint in three layers, letting it dry between each layer.
2-The cherry tree: After letting it dry for 5 minutes, gently draw lines with a pencil, without digging into the background paint, to draw the trunk and branches. The pencil will disappear during cooking, do not use an eraser to erase it. Once you are satisfied with your pattern, paint your lines with a fine brush using color no. 15-Black. When the three layers are applied, you can move on to the flowers.
3-The flowers: Take your brush and turn it over. Dip the handle in color #1-Shell Pink, and apply the handle to the ceramic to deposit dots of paint (one coat is enough). Do the same with color #89, in order to reproduce the flowers all along the branches.
Your pattern is now complete. You can still add details if you want! Don't forget to sign your piece on the back with the paint of your choice. You can clean your equipment with water.
And then? Wrap your piece in bubble wrap and drop it off at L'Atelier Geneviève if you made this piece at home. We will glaze it and fire it at 1000 degrees in our potter's kiln. A week later, you can come and collect it, shiny and usable every day (dishwasher safe guaranteed!)
So, what's the result? We can't wait to see it!
